During the meeting, the Committee members re-elected Yury Voronin, Chief Financial Ombudsman, as Chairman of the Advisory Committee.
Besides, changes took place in the Committee's membership: Darkhan Nurpeissov, who had replaced Yerserik Siyrbaev as the Banking Ombudsman of the Republic of Kazakhstan, became a Committee member. Yerserik Siyrbaev remained a Committee member in an advisory capacity.
The Committee members were presented a report by Irina Skums, Head of the Consumer Protection Department of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, on approaches to the establishment in the Republic of Belarus of the institution of alternative dispute resolution between consumers of financial services and financial institutions.
Mirsudin Isayev, Head of the Consumer Protection Department of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, informed the Committee members about the prospects of establishing a body for prejudicial dispute resolution between consumers of financial services and financial institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic.
NOTE
The decision to establish the Advisory Committee of the Financial Ombudsman Schemes of the Eurasian Economic Union was taken during the first international conference of ombudsmen of the EAEU countries, which was held on 30 November 2021. Both the conference and the establishment of the Advisory Committee were initiated by the Russian side represented by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
The Advisory Committee is a consultative and deliberative body, which aims to form common approaches to the protection of the rights of consumers of financial services in the EAEU member states. The functions of the Advisory Committee are to make proposals, recommendations and hold consultations on the implementation by EAEU member states of a coordinated policy in the area of prejudicial consideration and resolution of disputes between consumers of financial services and financial institutions.
