The Ombudsman for financial services consumers support Service (OFSC) signs a cooperation agreement with the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Department of Rospotrebnadzor
The autonomous non-profit organization «Ombudsman for financial services consumers support Service» (OFSC) and the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Department of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) signed a cooperation agreement.
The signing ceremony was attended by Sergey Smirnov, Head of Nizhny Novgorod Branch No. 3 of the Financial Ombudsman Service, and Natalia Kucherenko, Head of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Department of Rospotrebnadzor.
The agreement, among other things, provides for cooperation between the parties in terms of mutual advice on the protection of consumer rights, the provision of methodological support within their competence, participation in educational and outreach programmes for consumers of financial services.
«The agreement will allow uniting our efforts and resources to improve the protection of consumers of financial services. Cooperation between our experts will help us work with high quality on cases of violation of consumer rights, identify them more quickly, as well as act proactively, preventing unscrupulous behaviour of financial market participants,» Sergey Smirnov said.
The Nizhny Novgorod branch of the OFSC performs some of the functions of the OFSC, including assisting the Financial Ombudsman Service in preparing to deal with appeals from consumers of financial services.
