Chief Financial Ombudsman Yury Voronin attends the Themis Award ceremony
Chief Financial Ombudsman Yury Voronin took part in the 25th Themis Award ceremony. The award winners are outstanding statesmen and public figures, recognized authorities among the members of Russian legal community.
In different years such famous state and public figures as Chairman of the Russian Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev, President of the Moscow Bar Association, member of the Russian Public Chamber Henry Reznik, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Office Dmitry Kozak and others became prize winners. The Themis Prize has an international standing. Accordingly, international award winners have included President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel Micha Lindenstrauss, and Uwe Hellmann, Chairman of the Department of Criminal and Economic Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Potsdam. This year again, the Award in the «Notaries» category was given to Assel Zhanabilova, the Chairperson of the Republican Chamber of Notaries of Kazakhstan.
There is a tradition established over the years that awards are given not only to people who made the greatest contribution to the formation and development of the rule of law in Russia, but also to individual organizations and even government agencies. So, for example, this year the Chief Financial Ombudsman was honoured to hand over a well-deserved award to the Federal Bailiff Service as the winner in the «Law and Economics» category. Dmitry Aristov, the head of the Federal Bailiff Service, received the statuette of the goddess of justice from Yury Voronin’s hands.
Other winners of this year’s prize are the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation (in the «National Priorities» category), the Serbsky National Research Centre (in the «Expert Activity» category), the Legal Department of the GlavUpDK at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in the «Legal Service» category), Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachov (in the «International Cooperation» category), Head of the Department of Criminal Procedure, Justice and Prosecutorial Supervision of the Legal Department of the Moscow State University Leonid Golovko (in the «Tradition and Education» category), Aleksey Terentyev, Assistant-Referee of the State Legal Department of the President of the Russian Federation («Public Service» category), Konstantin Korsik, President of the Federal Notary Chamber («Way to the Law» category), Elena Yulova, lawyer («Advocacy» category), Yuri Pilipenko, President of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers («Professional Community» category) and Irina Novikova, Chief Editor of Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information («Mass Media» category).
