Monday - Friday from 8:00 to 20:00 (Moscow time), except public holidays, free call from regions of RussiaIn case of disputes regarding payments under the new short CMTPL insurance policies that may arise between a consumer and an insurance company, the consumer should apply to the Financial Ombudsman, which will handle the appeal free of charge and at short notice, Financial Ombudsman Viktor Klimov advised.
“Regardless of whether you have a short-term or annual policy, all disputes with insurers arising from relations regulated by the law on CMTPL insurance should be addressed to the Financial Ombudsman,” he said.
On 2 March 2024, amendments to the legislation shall come into force, according to which it is allowed to conclude a CMTPL insurance contract for a period from one day to three months.
“I remind you that the procedure for filing and considering an appeal is easy, fast and free of charge for a citizen. And the period of appeal consideration is limited by law: within 15 working days a decision must be made. If the Financial Ombudsman should deem it necessary to appoint an independent expert examination when considering the appeal, the term may be extended by ten days. But last year’s practice shows that even with the expert examination, the average term lasted 16 working days,” Viktor Klimov said.
