Ombudsman for financial services consumers support Service’s Representatives tell participants of forum-festival “Territory of the Future – Moscow 2030” about the financial ombudsman institute

As a part of participation in the “Week of financial literacy”, which took place from 23d to 29th August 2024 at the forum-festival “Territory of the Future – Moscow 2030”, representatives of the Ombudsman for financial services consumers support Service (OFSC) told the residents of the capital how consumers can have their rights protected in disputes with banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions.

Participation of the OFSC in the event became possible thanks to the signing of a co-operation agreement between the head of the Ombudsman for financial services consumers support Service Olga Kraynova and the head of the State Agency of the City of Moscow “Financial Agency of the City of Moscow” (“Mosfinagency”) Denis Mikhailov.

At the case session on August 26, representatives of the OFSC elaborated on how the procedure of mandatory out-of-court dispute resolution functions, how an appeal to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) is to be submitted, how the appeal is considered by the Financial Ombudsman and what happens after the Financial Ombudsman’s decision is taken.

On August 25 and 28, consultations were also held for the general public to clarify the competences of the Financial Ombudsman Service.

“Financial Literacy Week” as part of the forum-festival “Territory of the Future – Moscow 2030” was attended by more than 35 thousand guests. The educational marathon was held in Zaryadye Park. Leading experts shared practical advice and helped in managing personal and family finances.
