FOS training programme included in catalogue of best practices in financial literacy

The joint training programme of the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and Saratov State Law Academy has been included by the Russian Ministry of Finance in the catalogue of the best regional practices in financial literacy for 2022 in the category “Special projects with non-governmental organizations and movements”.

The objective of the Financial Consumer Protection Methods programme is raising awareness among employees of legal clinics at Russian universities to provide qualified legal assistance to citizens who have had their rights violated by financial institutions.

The Financial Ombudsman Service staff developed an instruction kit for the programme on “The procedure and characteristics of consumer protection in financial services through the appeal to the Financial Ombudsman’, and also held webinars for students of the programme.

Olga Kraynova, the head of the Ombudsman for financial services consumers support Service (OFSC), says: “The Service actively informs citizens about the FOS institution, with the aim of providing consumers with qualified assistance on the issue of filing appeals. This support is provided by employees of legal clinics from different regions, who receive up-to-date first-hand information about the Service during the training”.
