Chief Financial Ombudsman Yury Voronin elected Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the EAEU Financial Ombudsman schemes

The first meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Financial Ombudsman schemes of the Eurasian Economic Union member states was held via video conference on April 19, 2022.

The Russian side was represented by Chief Financial Ombudsman Yury Voronin, who moderated the meeting, Financial Ombudsmen Viktor Klimov, Svetlana Maximova, Denis Novak, and Head of the Ombudsman for financial services consumers support Service (OFSC) Olga Kraynova.

During the meeting the personal composition of members of the Advisory Committee, which included representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, was approved. Representatives of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus took part in the work without membership in the Committee, with deliberative functions but no vote. The meeting also approved the Regulation on the Advisory Committee of the Financial Ombudsman schemes of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.

The members of the Advisory Committee decided to elect Chief Financial Ombudsman Yury Voronin as its Chairman for the legal year of 2022.

During the event Vazgen Mnatsakanian, Chief Financial System Mediator of the Republic of Armenia, shared his experience, including his work on international platforms as a board member.

The members of the Advisory Committee also heard Chairman Yury Voronin’s report “On the approval of the Advisory Committee’s work plan for 2022”. During the discussion the work plan was approved and working groups were formed to implement it.

During the year an analysis of Eurasian Economic Union regulations on consumer protection and out-of-court dispute resolution will be carried out, an initiative for Eurasian Economic Commission on harmonization of the legal framework of EAEU member states on out-of-court dispute resolution between consumers of financial services and financial organizations will be prepared.

The Advisory Committee was initiated by the Russian party represented by the Financial Ombudsman Service at the international conference of financial ombudsmen of EAEU countries on 30 November 2021.
